Inside THIS Actors Studio

“A celebrity is a person who works hard all his life to become well known, then wears dark glasses to avoid being recognized.” -Anonymous

Hello Faithful Followers,

In honor of this three day weekend and the mediocre weather viciously plaguing my life, I chose the most fitting way to spend my day. After hours of risking my life at the mall amidst the crazed sale chasers and bargain hunters, I settled in for a good movie starring my beloved Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire.

"Why a movie?" you might be asking yourself (and if you weren't-you are now). The answer is simple: When I move to Los Angeles, I'm going to become the next big star to hit the Hollywood Hills. Move over Megan Fox, Sophie has made her way to the set! (For everyone in HGLO-don't worry there is no need to start searching for an RD.....yet!)

But really, whether we believe it or not, each a of us is an actor each day. Sometimes we are forced to act in a role that we may not like while at other times we are crossing our fingers the "director" won't yell, "cut". At times our role may seem boring, sometimes we may feel like the victim and at others we are the heroines. Yet at the end of the day shouldn't we just be happy that we are still living, breathing and acting? As actors we face daily conflict, tears, laughter, joy, awkward moments and even a little romance. It is essential that each and every one of us makes the most of our role so that when the final credits begin to roll we know that an Oscar is awaiting us. We must act with courage and conviction, with love and with compassion, with humor and serenity and most importantly with dignity and integrity.

So as I sit and wait for my knight in shinning armor to make his way into the scene with heroic music in the background, I encourage you to wear those dark sunglasses, to block off those nasty UV Rays (this is Los Angeles) and to most importantly soar above the haters. Embrace your inner celebrity, and be the star of the major motion picture that you live day in and day out.

Swimsuits and Sundress and Accessories, Oh My!

"Life is a fashion show and every day is a runway"

Packing.

It's probably one of the most daunting tasks I've ever had to deal.

Where do you draw the line between what's a necessity and what's not? Just because it's Los Angeles in the middle of summer does not mean that I am not justified in taking a jacket and boots "just in case". You never know when a rain storm could arise or when you might just "need" it. A Los Angeles wardrobe should not be limited to summer dresses, bathing suits and shorts. If I want to wear a hoodie then I should be allowed too, hence, I'm packing it :)

Some people might call me an "over packer" but I choose to think of it as being "prepared," even "cautious". It's really a good quality if you ask me. It means that I will always have exactly what any occasion calls for at any time-anywhere! Yes, this is coming from the girl that over packed by 18 pounds when going to Chicago in March. But at least I have a lovely, $25 oversized duffle bag that is gracefully adorned with a Southwest logo. Who could ask for more in life?

I would much rather travel with everything I own at all times in order to be "prepared". You never know what accessory you're going to need to match the new outfit that you're probably going to buy even though you're on a self imposed budget. Lets be real-you can never have enough options. AND this is Los Angeles, practically the "concrete jungle where dreams are made of" where it's not about who you know but what you're wearing when you meet them :)

As I type these very words I am choosing to ignore the fact that I'm sitting in a room surrounded by clothes, purses and shoes that I can't leave behind for a mere eight weeks. A room filled with "things" that in reality don't mean anything. Maybe it's the anxiety of packing, maybe it's the reality that I have yet to unpack from moving back home, or maybe just maybe, it's the laziness of not wanting to actually do the packing and make these tough real-life decisions.

My faithful readers I leave you with one question- when it rains, wont you be glad you packed those rain boots?

My Bucket List

With only eight weeks in sunny So-Cal I'm certain that time will fly faster than I can say "I hate the Lakers".

With that in mind I have begun to compile a list of places I want to go and things that I want to do while I'm in Los Angeles/Southern California.
Here goes:

1. Have a picnic on the beach for either sunrise or sunset
2. Go to DASH (and meet at least one of the Kardashians)
3. Take a picture at Les Deux (just like on The Hills)
4. Learn to roller skate on Venice Beach
5. Visit the Getty Center
6. Eat at Pinks Hot Dogs (even though I hate hot dogs)
7. Visit the Griffith Observatory and watch the Planetarium Show
8. Go to the Hollywood Sign
9. Attend a TV Show Taping (I'm on the waiting list for So You Think You Can Dance)
10. Chinese Theater
11. Hollywood Walk of Fame
12. Disneyland (Yes-I've been before)
13. Grand Central Market
14. Catalina Island
15. Tour UCLA and USC (yes-I'm Student Affairs-y like that)
16. Go to a movie premier
17. Watch a movie at night at the Hollywood Cemetery (Thanks B. :)
18. Go to Zankou Chicken.....yummy can't wait!!

While this list continues to grow daily, I'm MORE THAN OPEN to suggestions and recommendations :)
